RAINBOW 'E' SERIES MOTOR

This is a brand new main unit motor assembly for e-series (ONE SPEED) Rainbow vacuum

To replace the motor you will need:
  1. Take off clear plastic side panels
  2. Take 4 or 6 screws hidden under the bottom edge of above mentioned panels
  3. Remove the motor unit cap assembly
  4. Remove motor air filter
  5. Remove 4 screws and then metal motor retaining ring
  6. Remove motor
  7. Remove from old motor 4 ring segments that hold rubber motor seal onto the motor.
  8. Remove water pan gasket from the old motor. Try not to damage it as you may have to buy a new one (HERE).
We just posted article with pictures on how to replace the Rainbow e series vacuum cleaner motor. Go HERE for the instructions (skip unnecessary steps)

Work backwards to assemble it back together. Use weatherstripping glue to glue the gasket back. DO NOT put it back onto the water pan the same day - let the glue dry completely

I just replaced the motor on our e-series unit. Everything went fine but found that I had to put a washer under the nut for the separator. It would not tighten the separator to the motor with out it.
