If you would like to try to get your Kirby G6 fixed yourself - this is the place for tech-drive parts. The tech drive itself is non serviceable so it is being sold as one piece.
The way Kirby drive works like this: It has 2 sets of clutch-like disks. When you push the Kirby handle - one set is being engaged and momentum is passed to rear wheels and they spin forward. When you pull the handle - other set is engaged so Kirby vacuum goes in reverse. When released handle returns to neutral position and both disk sets are not engaged so Kirby is in "neutral". There is no maintenance required using Kirby in normal conditions. However if you feel like handle base does not slide smoothly or Kirby is "stuck" in a gear - a service is needed.
